Detection and response has been recognized for over a decade as a necessary pillar of effective security strategy, but 2025 shows a growing trend that it's increasingly becoming mandatory. On March 31, the new rules introduced in PCI DSS 4.0 for automated audit log review shift from a recommended “best practice” to a mandate. Similar updates focused on continuous monitoring, log review and threat detection went into effect for government contractors regulated under CMMC 2.0 at the end of 2024. Additionally, ISO 27001:2022 guidance introduced in October 2022 becomes required in October of this year.
Preparing to meet new compliance requirements presents an opportunity for IT teams to not just check a box, but improve their fundamental security strategy through greater ability to identify threats and mitigate risk affecting the resources they defend. Join Zoe Lindsey, security strategist at Blumira, and Jamie Tomasello, founder of Keel Paradox and cybersecurity and compliance consultant with over 20 years of experience leading security operations and compliance initiatives and strategy, as they break down the latest changes to compliance requirements, what they signal for the year to come, and how teams navigating these changes can implement effective solutions without adding complexity.
