We will be hosting an AMA on Reddit’s r/cybersecurity from October 18-22, where you can ask our security experts anything.
Join our SecOps team on Reddit to ask questions about threat hunting, blue teaming, Microsoft vulnerabilities, or really anything cybersecurity-related.
What is Reddit and r/cybersecurity?
Dubbed “the front page of the internet,” Reddit is a social forum in which users can discuss, interact and ask questions with other users. Reddit is divided into hundreds of interest-based communities called subreddits, one of which is r/cybersecurity.
With nearly 300,000 members, r/cybersecurity is a community for current or aspiring technical professionals to discuss cybersecurity, threats and more.
Our security team isn’t new to Reddit; from the Blumira account, they’ve posted valuable advice related to:
What is an AMA?
AMA is short for Ask Me Anything, a question-and-answer session that is conducted in real-time on a Reddit forum. For security-related examples, see Black Hills Infosec’s John Strand’s AMA on r/cybersecurity.
Who will be answering questions?
Matthew Warner is Blumira’s CTO and Co-Founder, with over 10 years of experience in IT and development, focusing on business strategy, development, compliance, threat detection and penetration testing. Previously, he was Director of Security Services, Development & Security at NetWorks Group, responsible for defensive information security and services. He has OSCP and CISSP certifications. He’s been with Blumira from the start – ask him about what it’s like to launch a security startup from the ground up!
Amanda Berlin is a Lead Incident Detection Engineer specializing in threat detection research as well as SecOps. Amanda is the co-host of the Brakeing Down Security podcast. She is the author of a Blue Team best practices book called “Defensive Security Handbook: Best Practices for Securing Infrastructure” with Lee Brotherston through O’Reilly Media. Ask her about the nonprofit she’s founded, Mental Health Hackers, which is providing education and guidance to tech workers around mental health topics.
Nato Riley is an Integrations Engineer and is dedicated to helping Blumira build the most effective and efficient SIEM on the market for small to mid-sized businesses. Prior to joining Blumira, he held roles at LogRhythm and Data Network Group. Other ventures include notiaPoint, Inc., where Nato invented the Olympiad, a toolbox that makes large scale projects and deployments for cloud development projects more secure and agile. In his spare time, Nato runs a YouTube channel, Nato as Code, where he discusses topics such as infrastructure as code and building a cybersecurity career – ask him about it!
